A man has been fined after driving on the A1(M) in the Hatfield area at speeds of up to 100mph while watching a music video on his phone.

Nikhil Gadhvi admitted driving without due care and attention when he appeared at Stevenage Magistrates’ Court on October 25.

He had been driving a BMW between Junction 2 to 1 when he was caught doing speeds of up to 100mph and undertaking slower vehicles.

The court heard how Gadhvi had also been watching a music video on his phone which was fixed in his car.

The 27-year-old, of Sandhurst Road, London, was fined £184.

He was ordered to pay victim services £30 and costs of £85.

The court issued six penalty points.
