Two cars were involved in a collision on the A1(M) near Junction 6 for Welwyn.

A white Citroen DS5 was in a collision with a blue Ford Fiesta on the northbound carriageway of the A1(M) near Welwyn.

Police were called to the scene at 8.12am today and the left hand lane was temporarily closed.

One passenger left their car during the collision.

A fire crew from Welwyn Garden City and one fire engine from Stevenage were called at 8.14pm. On arrival they confirmed that no people were trapped, and left the scene by 8.28am.

An ambulance was called at 8.17am to treat one patient for minor injuries. The patient was not taken to hospital.

Both vehicles were recovered on to the hard shoulder and the lane has been reopened.
