THE A1(M) is back open following a 12-hour closure after a fatal accident.

A lorry driver died in the collision which happened at 3.30am this morning.

The man from Lincolnshire was involved in the accident with another lorry and a crane.

The Highways Agency and police worked all day to clear the vehicles and make the road safe between junction six Welwyn and seven Stevenage.

Tailbacks have affected both north and southbound carriageways throughout the day.

A police spokesman said: "The motorway is currently running slightly lighter than normal for rush hour.
