The group of five thugs got into the back of a black cab in Howardsgate, WGC, at about 2am on Sunday.
There was an altercation in the vehicle where the men lashed out kicking and punching the doors.
The taxi driver, a 45-year-old man, was then dragged from the car and beaten up in the street.

Five men, all from WGC and aged between 23 and 28, were arrested.
Two were cautioned, and three were released without charge.

The taxi driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to the QE2 Hospital for treatment.
