The redevelopment plan for Oaklands College, in College Way, was given the OK by Welwyn Hatfield councillors at a meeting on Thursday.

Permission was granted despite some initial concerns at the loss of 25 parking spaces.

Work should start this summer.

Councillor Steven Markiewicz supported the designs and said they would give the building “zip and even kerb appeal”.
