More than £500,000 has been pledged to help disabled people make adaptions to their homes.
At a meeting on Tuesday last week, cabinet members at Welwyn Hatfield Council approved the release of £520,000 for Disabled Facilities Grants in the next financial year.
The council said the money is most commonly used to pay for stairlifts, level access showers and ramps into homes.
Councillor Roger Trigg, Conservative, who is responsible for housing, welcomed the funding.
He said after the meeting: “Most people want to live independently in their own home for as long as possible, and with this funding, it’s much more likely people will be able to stay safe and comfortable in their own homes.”
