Scores of people were hurt in a crash involving a double decker bus and a car.

The smash took place at around 8.25am this morning (Monday), on the A1081 (St Albans Road), between South Mimms and Barnet.

Six ambulances and an air ambulance were scrambled to the scene, where 45 people needed treatment.

The bus overturned, injuring a number of people on board, police said.

The driver of a white Vauxhall Corsa, a 40-year-old woman, was also injured.

• A 41 year old man was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
