40 new homes plan for Welwyn Garden City office building

An office building in Welwyn Garden City could be turned into 40 new homes under plans being weighed up.
The owners of Highways House, in Broadwater Road, have lodged a bid to convert the former offices into one-bedroom homes.
Planning agent Gay Parry, from Barker Parry Town Planning, said the commercial property market in the town is currently saturated.
She added: “The building itself is in fairly good nick internally, it’s a case of removing partitions and putting other partitions up.”
The two-storey building is owned by Stratton II Sarl.
It was used by the county’s highways department until September 2012.
