Welwyn Hatfield residents can subscribe to the garden waste collection service from tomorrow - Wednesday, March 1.
The annual charge is set at £35, covering collections from 1 April 2017 to 31 March 2018.
Once a payment is processed (which can take up to ten days), addresses are added to a database and residents will receive two bin stickers.
The service is optional and, after 1 April, only households that have subscribed will have their garden waste bins emptied.
Councillor Helen Bromley, executive member for environment, said: “We know this is a service people value highly and I’m confident we will continue to deliver it efficiently and effectively.
“If people wish to take full advantage of the service, I urge them to subscribe as soon as possible, as payments may take up to ten days to be processed.”
Over the next few weeks, leaflets explaining the change will be distributed to every household. Hangers will also be placed on bins to remind residents how and when they can pay.
Payment can be made from online at www.welhat.gov.uk/gardenwaste or by calling 01707 357000.
