FURTHER jobs have been lost at a WGC drinks firm in administration today (Wednesday).

KPMG the joint administrators of First Quench Retailers has made 35 more people redundant from the beverage corporation’s HQ in Bessemer Road.

Richard Fleming, UK head of restructuring at KPMG, said: “Unfortunately, we have made a further 35 redundancies at head office in WGC.

“This follows the initial 81 redundancies announced on appointment of administrators (on October 29). The redundancies reflect the reduced need for head office staff, following the store closure programme announced last week. The redundancies were made across the head office teams.”

Almost half of the original workforce at First Quench Retailers HQ, which runs Bottoms Up, Victoria Wine and Haddows, as well as The Local, in Cole Green Lane, and Wine Rack, in Welwyn, have now lost their jobs.
