HUNDREDS of students are being put up in hotels after the University of Hertfordshire accepted more undergraduates than it can house.
However, a spokeswoman for the Hatfield-based uni said it was only a temporary measure and its campuses did have the space for the 300 freshers.
"We do have students in local hotels," she confirmed.
"We informed all students beforehand they would be placed in local accommodation and that we would find them accommodation on site within the next two to three weeks."
She added: "It has been an exceptional year for admissions.
"The University of Hertfordshire has had more applications than the national average."
