Hertfordshire may be known for its picturesque villages, but it is home to a restaurant named among the county's highest rated.

Tucked away in a peaceful town, Crockers Tring has built a reputation for exceptional fine dining and service.

It has even earned a place in the Michelin Guide and with a score of 4.9 out of 5 on Tripadvisor, receives frequent rave reviews from diners.

Located in the heart of Tring, Crockers offers a chef-led tasting menu experience focused on seasonal ingredients and contemporary British cooking.

Crockers is led by head chef Scott Barnard, who appeared on MasterChef: The Professionals in 2015 and The Rematch in 2018, coming second on both occasions.

The restaurant has become known for its intimate atmosphere and emphasis on culinary theatre.

Indeed, diners can watch dishes being prepared and presented with meticulous attention to detail.

The restaurant describes itself as delivering a modern, immersive dining experience where the food takes centre stage.

Diners frequently praise the creativity of the tasting menus, the quality of ingredients and the attentiveness of the service.

Visitors can combine a memorable meal with time exploring the attractive streets of Tring, nearby countryside walks and the town's independent shops and cafés.

This makes it an ideal destination for a special occasion or a luxury day out.

'Fabulous food'

While Hertfordshire boasts no shortage of excellent restaurants, Crockers has established itself as one of the county's culinary flagships.

Writing on Tripadvisor, one diner said: "Perfect birthday with hubby & friends - fabulous service and food as always - see you at Christmas."

Another added: "From the first step in the door we were welcomed to the relaxed atmosphere of Crockers Tring.

"The lovely cellar bar is an actual cellar with wines stacked against the brick walls and modern gentle lighting around the bar showing the rich colours of the liquors on offer.

"We were taken to the top floor above the restaurant for the Chefs Table taster menu.

"It was here Scott Barnard and his team guided us through each course and the accompanying flight of wines.

"The flavours instantly set your taste buds going. So much thought had gone into each course and the matched wines.

"It was a truly amazing and memorable experience of the very best in fine dining from the lobster to the home made bread."
