A school has opened the country's first large-scale clay court tennis facility following a £600,000 investment.
Queenswood School in Brookmans Park unveiled the Red Plus courts on Saturday, September 19, in partnership with the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA).
The eight new courts, backed by one of the governing body's most significant grants in ten years, are now the biggest clay court competition venue in the UK.
Catherine Sluter, director of tennis at Queenswood School, said: "We officially opened a facility that has been years in the making and that will shape Queenswood tennis for generations to come.

"It was a privilege to welcome Naomi Cavaday, whose career has inspired so many young tennis players, alongside former Aberdare Cup winners whose connection to this club stretches back to 1955."
Red Plus clay contains real Italian clay and can be played on year-round, replicating the surface used on the professional tennis tour.
The school's 1960s pavilion has also been refurbished as part of the project.
Queenswood now has 27 all-weather courts on site, making it the country's most comprehensive clay-court facility.
The school's tennis programme operates in partnership with Gosling Tennis Academy, providing students with top-level coaching and performance support.
