Welwyn Garden City is celebrating its standout businesses with a fresh take on its annual awards.

The Wonderful WGC BID Awards, newly rebranded as the Most Wonderful Awards, return in 2026 with a public vote deciding the winners for the first time.

Residents and visitors can cast their votes until September 18, to help crown the most outstanding businesses in Welwyn Garden City town centre across 11 categories, including national and independent businesses, cafes, pubs and restaurants, professional services, and more.

Mariana Bitonte, WGC BID manager, said: "We’re delighted to bring our business awards back this year and, for the first time, give the public the chance to have their say and vote for their most wonderful business in the town centre.

"We’ve had such a fantastic response from businesses during the nomination period, and there is already a real buzz around the awards.

"Welwyn Garden City has such a diverse mix of national and independent businesses, and these awards are a great opportunity to shine a spotlight on the people and businesses that make our town centre special."

Voting is available online at https://voting.wonderfulwgc.co.uk/, via Wonderful WGC’s social media channels, or in person at participating businesses by scanning a dedicated QR code.

Everyone who casts a vote will be entered into a prize draw to win a £150 voucher to spend at a Welwyn Garden City town centre business.

The awards ceremony will take place on September 30 and will form part of the launch of the WGC BID renewal campaign.

Mariana said: "It’s going to be an exciting few months for the town centre, and we can’t wait to celebrate our wonderful businesses.

"Now it’s over to you – happy voting."

The awards are sponsored by NewMedica.

Huma, operations director and partner at NewMedica, said: "We are delighted to be sponsoring the Most Wonderful WGC Awards, celebrating the very best businesses and people in Welwyn Garden City town centre.

"As a Welwyn Garden City-based business ourselves, it’s fantastic to be involved in an event that brings the local business community together and celebrates the wonderful businesses that make our town such a great place to work, visit and do business."

Public voting is now open until September 18. You can vote at https://voting.wonderfulwgc.co.uk/
