A man has been charged with vehicle interference after an incident in Hatfield.

It was reported that a man had tried gaining access to a vehicle parked in Selwyn Avenue in the early hours of July 20.

A suspect was later identified and arrested.

Paul Murphy, 41, of The Runway, Hatfield, has been charged.

Inspector Robert Wilson said: “I hope this news reassures residents that we take reports like this seriously.

"I’d also like to take this opportunity to remind residents of the importance of keeping your vehicles secure.

"Never leave valuables inside and always make sure your vehicle is locked."
