A motorway service station is being transformed into a pop-up play zone.
Families and travellers passing through South Mimms will be able to enjoy a one-day gaming event on July 25 from 10am to 3.30pm, thanks to a partnership between tabletop games publisher Asmodee and Welcome Break.
The event will turn the service area into a games hub, offering visitors the chance to try out a range of quick, travel-friendly board games designed to add entertainment to the journey.
Roger Martin, marketing director at Asmodee, said: "Summer holidays are all about making memories together and that starts from the moment you set off.
"Long car journeys with little ones can be challenging, so we wanted to show that even a short motorway stop can become a chance to have fun and enjoy a few minutes of gameplay.
"Our portable travel games are quick to learn, easy to pack and perfect for families on the move.
"We hope visitors leave with a new favourite game they can keep playing in the back seat, at their next destination and on future adventures."
Visitors will have the chance to play popular titles such as Dobble, Exploding Kittens: Grab & Game, CATAN On the Road, and DNuP.
The first 10 families to arrive will each receive a free game to take with them on their journey.
Additional games will be available for purchase at the on-site WHSmiths store.
Part of a wider summer play tour, the pop-up will also visit Welcome Break Rotherham on August 1, Welcome Break Oxford on August 8, Welcome Break Warwick on August 22, and Welcome Break Hopwood Park on August 29.
Asmodee hopes the event will help turn pit stops into opportunities for connection and fun, making travel more enjoyable for families during the busy school holiday season.
No advance booking is required.
