A much-loved pub in Hatfield has reopened and returned to its old name, while also getting a new look thanks to a £250,000 makeover.

The Harrier, formerly known as The Hatfield Tap, has relaunched with a renewed emphasis on sport, entertainment and community events.

The pub has also returned to its original name, inspired by the town's British aviation heritage.

Richard Fuller, the pub's new management partner, said: "I want to bring back the true local pub.

"A place built around the values and needs of the local community, whilst being attractive to everyone.

"From our neighbours to the local students and everyone else, we want everyone to feel welcomed and valued at The Harrier."

Backed by the existing team—Laura, Kenzie, Jules, Cathal and Spencer—he said their commitment was central to the pub's identity and future success.

Mr Fuller said: "I’m incredibly grateful for the team, who are the real heroes here.

"Laura has been a part of the pub for 16 years, and between her and the team, they truly make it the fantastic place that it has become renowned for."

With improvements to the outdoor area, a fresh menu and a greater focus on live sport and entertainment, the pub plans to become a vibrant social hub for all.

The new menu, which has already been a hit with guests, offers proper pub classics with a twist of indulgent flavours, from traditional family favourites and small plates to stacked burgers and delicious desserts, perfectly paired with the updated drinks range.

The Harrier also plans to offer a dynamic weekly calendar of events.

From big matchdays and social drinks to events and community gatherings, there will be something for everyone.

The pub’s flexible function space is available for private celebrations and special occasions.

With its spacious beer garden, appetising food menu, live sport and pub games, Mr Fuller believes The Harrier is well-placed to become a go-to destination for Hatfield locals and visitors alike.

With the doors back open and a fresh new chapter underway, The Harrier has been welcoming the community back in.
