A man is in a serious condition in hospital after a car came off the A1(M) and crashed into a tree near Welwyn last night (September 29).
Police were called just before midnight following reports that an Alfa Romeo Mito that had left the carriageway just before Junction 6 and collided with a tree.
Officers and paramedics rushed the scene, and a man was recovered from the vehicle suffering from serious injuries.
He was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious condition.
The road was quickly closed to allow emergency services to operate, and only re-opened around 7am this morning (September 30).
