Hatfield Town Council has admitted it is disappointed after vandals caused £7,000 worth of damage to a play park in Hatfield.
The roundabout and perimeter fence at Roe Hill play area in Briars Lane earlier this week, leading to the damaged parts of the site being fenced off.
Hatfield Town Council has said it is "disappointed" by the damage caused, which could cost more than £7,000 to repair.
"We are disappointed to report that the roundabout and perimeter fence at the play area at Roe Hill has suffered from significant vandalism this week," read a statement from Hatfield Town Council.
"We have fenced off the broken play equipment and temporarily covered the gap in the fence while we arrange repairs, which is projected to cost at least £7,000 – therefore having an impact on other park projects we have planned in Hatfield.
"As summer reaches its peak and more people take advantage of our outdoor facilities, problems like vandalism, theft, and anti-social behaviour are negatively impacting the enjoyment of our parks and open spaces for the majority of visitors.
"If you spot anything in our parks, play areas, or open spaces, please do let us know."
