A planning appeal has been launched after plans to extend a housing development in Brookmans Park were refused.
The plans, submitted by Omnicreast Construction LTD, proposed to build a three-storey extension at Marlborough Court in Green Close, to allow for the addition of a two-bedroom and one-bedroom flat.
The new flats would have seen the development expanded from eight houses and four flats, but Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council turned down the initial proposal in May.
"The proposed development, by virtue of its siting, height, mass and scale would be excessive and would not respect the host building and the surrounding context," the council's decision stated.
"It would appear as an incongruous and unduly prominent addition within the street scene, resulting in harm to the character and appearance of the existing building and the surrounding area.
"Accordingly, the proposed development represents a poor standard of design.
"The proposed development fails to provide adequate on-site parking and safe and suitable access for all users to the detriment of highway safety."
Omnicreast Construction LTD have now appealed that decision in an effort to get the plans pushed through.
