Welwyn Hatfield MP Andrew Lewin has reassured residents after a "very unsettling" incident in Hatfield that saw a man stabbed.
Between 10.30pm and 10.45pm on Thursday (August 15), a 24-year-old man, was approached by two unknown men, and during an argument one of them punched the victim in the face and the other man reportedly produced a bladed article.
The victim was taken to hospital with suspected stab wounds, which are not being treated as life-threatening.
Mr Lewin has now reassured resident and called for anyone with information about the "very unsettling" incident to contact police.
"I have been briefed by Welwyn Hatfield Police on the serious assault that took place in Market Place at around 10.30pm on Thursday, August 15," the MP said.
"I'd strongly encourage anyone who was in the area at the time to read the police message in full and to make contact with any information you believe might be relevant.
"The police believe this is an isolated incident, but I know this news will still be very unsettling. Like many of you, I am in town often and was enjoying Hatfield Community Fair earlier this week.
"To help reassure local people, I have had confirmation from the police that there will be an increased and visible policing presence in and around Market Place over the coming days."
