Brave firefighters extinguished a bin lorry blaze in Potters Bar this morning (June 18) after waste suddenly set alight.
The Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service was called at 6.46am to reports of the blaze in Darkes Lane.
Crews rushed to the scene and found the lorry well alight, before removing waste to get to the fire and extinguish it.
"We were called at 6.46am today to reports of a dustbin lorry on fire in Darkes Lane, Potters Bar," said a Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson.
"Two fire engines, from Potters Bar Fire Station were sent to the scene, where the crew found a lorry well alight in the road.
"A large quantity of household waste was unloaded on to the road so firefighters could reach the source of the fire, which they then successfully extinguished.
"Fire crews left the scene just before 7.30am."
