Plans have been submitted for a former South Mimms pub to be part-demolished to create a two-storey apartment building.

If accepted, "existing modern additions" to the White Hart, on St Albans Road, would be removed before a two-storey side and rear extension is added.

The pub would be converted into six apartments, an existing outbuilding would be turned into a two-bedroom apartment and a detached two-bedroom dwelling would be constructed.

Four two-bedroom apartments and two one-bedroom apartments would be situated within the existing pub.

A planning statement included within the application reads: "The proposal comprises two components, firstly it seeks the redevelopment of a previously developed former public houses, and secondly it seeks the erection of an infill dwelling.

"The development would bring into use an underutilised parcel of land, which in its current form is not viable and the proposal would enable the redevelopment of a previously developed site.

"The future residents would be economically active, and the construction phase would also bring considerable economic benefits.

"There is an inherent need to deliver housing in Hertsmere. The proposal will make a contribution to the acute housing need and housing land supply."
