Plans have been submitted to demolish a bungalow in Knebworth and build three new homes.

A planning application submitted to North Herts Council is proposing to "erect one detached dwelling and two semi-detached dwellings following demolition of existing bungalow" at 64 Pondcroft Road.

According to the proposal, the site has been chosen to help meet new housing allocations, and should only be refused if there is an "unacceptable impact on highway safety".

"This area of Pondcroft Road lies within Knebworth village, and as such it is classified as being suitable for additional housing," the plans read.

"According to the North Herts Local Plan, 'five villages have been identified that will support higher levels of new housing allocations than the category a villages. Knebworth and Codicote are the two largest villages within North Hertfordshire and support a range of services, including a station at Knebworth'.

"'Knebworth is identified one of five villages where a greater amount of development has
been allocated and general development will be permitted in this area'."

"Development should only be prevented or refused on highways grounds if
there would be an unacceptable impact on highway safety, or the residual cumulative."
