A man has been arrested on suspicion of assaulting two police officers in Hatfield, following reports of anti-social behaviour.

Officers from the Welwyn Hatfield Neighbourhood Policing Team attended Oak Tree Close on Tuesday (April 16), after residents reported anti-social behaviour and cannabis use in an abandoned garage.

Seven young people were found at the scene and one of them, a 20-year-old man from Borehamwood was arrested on suspicion of possession of cannabis, wilfully resisting a constable searching for drugs, and two assaults on police officers

In addition, officers seized two e-scooters that were found in the garage.

"I hope this reassures residents that we are listening to your concerns and taking action," said PC Jack Andrews, from the Welwyn Hatfield NPT.

"The arrested man has received a caution for the offences and a second man who we found at the scene has been interviewed in relation to cannabis possession.

"We have also contacted the housing association who own the garage to make sure it is secured. Hopefully this action will disrupt the ASB that has been causing a nuisance to local residents.
