Baroness Barran MBE, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for the School System, praised Onslow St Audrey's School (OSA) for its innovative approaches to attendance during a recent visit.

The invitation, which took place in February, provided a platform for engaging discussions on innovative methods to ensure efficient attendance.

During her visit to OSA, Baroness Barran commended its leadership on securing a favourable rating from the first comprehensive inspection since the school's integration into the Danes Educational Trust.

The Baroness was reportedly pleased on learning about the aspiring vision the school maintains for its pupils and the apparent pride students display in being part of OSA.

Headteacher Julie Jones was appreciative of the minister's visit.

She said: "It was inspiring to welcome Baroness Barran to Onslow St Audrey's School.

"We are honoured that she chose to visit our school to explore the excellent work that our pastoral team is doing to improve students' attendance."

"The minister had a rich and interesting conversation with our Learner Voice Council students, whom she described as bright and articulate."

The recognition from Baroness Barran signifies OSA's commitment to promoting student engagement and wellness.

The discussions and insights from her visit are expected to contribute positively to ongoing enhancement strategies for attendance and bolster student support mechanisms.

The Danes Educational Trust was founded as a multi-academy trust in June 2016, evolving from a single academy trust, St Clement Danes School, to facilitate the development of the Croxley Danes School, based in Croxley Green.

Now, the Trust integrates nine schools including St Clement Danes, Croxley Danes, Chancellor’s School, Onslow St Audrey’s School, De Havilland Primary School, Elstree Screen Arts Academy, Ascot Road, Lanchester and Jupiter Primary Schools.

The Trust, led by Dr Josephine Valentine OBE, is headquartered at St Clement Danes School in Chorleywood.

The trust's motto: "Making the difference together" illustrates its commitment to transformational teaching with the intention of transforming the lives and experiences of their students.
