Crime prevention advice was handed out to villagers in Cuffley, with free security devices also distributed.
Officers from the Welwyn Hatfield Neighbourhood Policing Team visited Cuffley Day Centre on Tuesday to educate residents on protecting their homes from burglars.
PCSOs Jo Woods and Sam Griffin chatted to people about the steps they can take to keep their homes secure.
They also handed out leaflets for the residents to take home with them.
In addition, they also gave away free purse bells and springs which help to deter pickpockets. The bells work by making a noise to alert the victim and scare off the pickpocket.
The springs are designed to be attached to both a shopper’s bag and purse, making it harder for a thief to steal the purse.
PCSO Jo Woods said: “We had a great time meeting the residents and reassuring them of the steps they can take to keep their homes secure. Hopefully they found our advice useful.
We were also pleased to hand out the free security devices which should provide peace of mind when out and about shopping.
