Three drivers have been reported by police in Hatfield within the space of three days.

First, on Saturday, January 13, a vehicle was spotted on the A1(M) driving with additional leaf springs to disguise its load.

When officers from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Road Policing Unit stopped the driver, they found that they were not insured to drive and that their vehicle was in a dangerous condition. The driver was reported and the vehicles was seized.

In a second incident on the same day, a vehicle was seen "crawling" along the A1(M). It was found to be 1.5 tonnes over the maximum weight, and so the vehicle has been 'cabled' until the weight is offloaded. The driver was not a UK resident, so a graduated fixed penalty notice of £600 was issued.
