2024 is going to be a leap year, with a whole extra day to enjoy.

So why not take inspiration to leap into something brand new this year.

Whether it is taking up a new hobby, trying new foods or volunteering for one of our local charities, we can all benefit from shaking things up and trying something outside our comfort zone.

We can’t all be experts overnight, and sometimes a fear of failure or looking like a fool stops us from giving things a go. But without people having a go and trying new things, nothing changes.

And change is something we should expect this coming year. 2024 is likely to see plenty of political drama with important general and presidential elections taking place across the globe, including in Taiwan, India, Russia, the United States and of course here in the UK.

Regardless of who you vote for, its important you have your say so make sure you are registered to vote (https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote).

But before the political games begin I want to pay tribute to everyone who gave up their time and energies to campaign for what they believe in.

Most people involved in local politics do so because they want to make a positive difference to their area. And in Hatfield the great divide seems to be between those wanting to do something, and those who are content for nothing to happen.

So, regardless of what party political rosette you wear, come join us at Hatfield Town Council and help us make a positive change to the town and parish.

We have a number of exciting projects in 2024, but need your support and local knowledge to ensure they deliver what residents need. In the meantime can I wish you all the best for 2024.
