Care providers Hartwig Care, based in Welwyn Garden City, held a client and carer Christmas lunch on December 1 at St Francis Church.

The hall was decorated with items provided by the carers themselves, and a Christmas tree loaned by the Friends of Danesbury and Queen Victoria Memorial Hospital.

Lunch was prepared in-house by care coordinator Sonya Dixon and served to 60 clients, ranging between 80 and 97 years old.

The wife of one of the clients played the piano and everyone enjoyed a Christmas sing-along.

Dagmar de Botton of Hartwig Care said: "Where clients were unable to arrange their own transportation we were able to arrange travel to the venue and back.

"We thank them all for making the effort, which with age doesn’t always come easy."
