Potters Bar's Jake Marlowe is among the 260 people who died at music festival in Israel last weekend, following Hamas attacks on country.

The 26-year-old was working at the Supernova Festival in the desert near Kibbutz Re’im, close to the Gaza Strip, when militants stormed the site firing rockets.

Mr Marlowe had been reported missing, but the Israeli Embassy confirmed on Wednesday afternoon at he was among those killed at the festival.

In a statement, his parents, Lisa and Michael, said: "We are heartbroken to have to inform you the crushing news that our son Jake has been confirmed dead in southern Israel.

"Repatriation plans are being put in to place, more information will follow. Please respect our privacy at this most devastating time."

Earlier this week, they told the Evening Standard that Mr Marlowe had contacted them, saying "rockets were flying over" the festival, and that he promised to keep them updated.

Mr Marlowe moved to Israel in 2021 and was living in Ma’alot, where he was employed as a carpenter.

He also attended the Jewish Free School, as did another victim, Briton Nathanel Young, 20, who was serving in the Israeli army when he was killed during Hamas’s attack.

Bernard Cowan, who grew up around Glasgow, also died, while there are concerns for 17 other UK nationals are either dead or missing, including children.
