The Hatfield Branch of the Royal Aeronautical Society is set to host a number of educational talks in the town, starting later this month.

Taking place at the University of Hertfordshire, the first talk will be given by Professor Dame Helen Atkinson, from Cranfield University, on the Royal Air Force's efforts to achieve zero carbon emissions by 2040, held at 6.30pm on Wednesday, October 25.

Other talks will include Innovation at Marshal Aerospace, Cambridge, The life of a modern RAF Engineering Officer and Innovative Electric Propulsion.

Hatfield has a long and storied aviation history as the home of the De Havilland Aircraft Company, designers of ground-breaking aircraft such as the Mosquito and the Comet - the world's first jet airliner.
