Three people have been arrested following assaults in Hemel Hempstead and Welwyn Garden City.

Most recently, an altercation took place between a group of people in Argyll Road, Hemel Hempstead, at around 2.15pm yesterday (Thursday, September 21).

A 45-year-old man sustained multiple injuries, believed to be stab wounds, during the incident.

He remains in hospital at this time, with injuries that are potentially life changing.

Following "fast time enquiries", three people were arrested on suspicion of robbery and assault (GBH).

A 22-year-old woman, a 47-year-old man and a 44-year-old man were all taken into custody, and remain there at this time.

The woman and 47-year-old man were further arrested on suspicion of robbery and assault (GBH), in connection with an incident on Wednesday (September 20).

During this incident, a man had been assaulted in a wooded area near Waterside, Welwyn Garden City.

Cash and a mobile phone were stolen from his person, before he was taken to hospital for treatment.

Detective Constable Karen Jordan said: "Although three arrests have been made in connection with these incidents, our enquiries are very much continuing at this time.

"If you have any additional information which may assist us, or have captured any CCTV footage of note, please do get in touch.

“I appreciate these incidents will cause concern among the local community, but I would like to reassure people that we believe these to be isolated incidents among parties known to each other.

“If you have any concerns, please do not hesitate to speak with officers at the scene or contact your local policing team.”
