A planning application has been submitted to expand a shop in Digswell by building an extension and converting a garage.
The plans, proposed by Subramaniam Mohanathaasan, would see an extension build on the side of Welwyn North Stores in Harmer Green Lane, which would be used as storage space.
A garage at the rear of the property would also be converted to "retail space", allowing the shop to be expanded, but alterations would need to be made to the roof to allow this to happen.

The application was submitted on August 23 and is currently under consultation, but according to a notice posted by the store, some work has already begun.
"As from August 21 until October 31, the stores opening and closing times will change, for the sale of newspapers only," reads the notice.
"We regret that is the only service we can offer due to building works within the shop that will be taking place.
"We wish to apologise for any inconvenience and look forward to seeing you when the shop re-opens."
