The first in a new series of library beat surgeries has taken place at Hatfield Library.

The beat surgeries are a collaboration between the Welwyn Hatfield Safer Neighbourhood Team and the library in White Lion Square.

They had been running every other month since January to provide an opportunity for residents to meet their local police face-to-face.

This week, further dates were announced due to the success of the surgeries so far.

PC Ian Drury and PCSO Shannon Payne attended the latest surgery in the town centre to deliver crime prevention advice, chat to residents about any worries and even hand out free crime prevention goodies.

PC Drury said: “It was great to be back at the library, chatting to residents and providing them with any help they needed.

“While a lot of our engagement work is carried out online these days, such as through our OWL and echo platforms, we know there is still a demand from many residents who are perhaps not online or prefer face-to-face interaction.

"The beat surgeries are the perfect opportunity to speak to us in person and raise any concerns or ask questions.

“I would like to thank everybody for coming along and we hope to see even more residents next time.”
