Pubs across the borough were nominated, and it was The Woodman Inn that came out on top in the Welwyn Hatfield Times' Your Favourite Pub Award.

The family-owned bar and restaurant in Warrengate Road in North Mymms, is known for its excellent selection of beers, wines and spirits as well as its quality Sunday carvery, was picked as the winner.

Woodman Inn manager, Jana Suchanska, was delighted to receive the award, saying: "I am so happy that we have been recognised as a great pub and I thank our wonderful regular customers for their continuing support.

"Our customers are just amazing, and we all try hard to make The Woody the best it can be for you.

"We will continue to provide you a good pint, great choice of wines and spirits and not forgetting the food."

The pub has been honoured with the Your Favourite Pub trophy, and also received a banner to show off their success.

A party was also held to celebrate the win, with Jana presented with a gift from the customers at the party to recognise her work.

Among those to attend was Welwyn Hatfield MP Grant Shapps, who often visits the Woodman Inn for a pint and a carvery.

"It is fantastic to see the Woodman Inn winning this award from the Welwyn Hatfield Times," he said.

"As someone who has enjoyed a pint and a carvery at this pub many times before I know how hard everyone works and how well deserved this award is.

"I wish everyone at the Woodman Inn the best for the future, and I look forward to returning to the pub for another fantastic carvery and a well-poured pint."

As well as the trophy, The Woodman Inn received a cash prize, which has been donated to Prostate Cancer UK and used to help buy a defibrillator for the pub.

"We are amazed and thankful for our customers interaction and generosity which, over the past couple of years, has enabled us to donate over £5000 to Prostate Cancer UK," Jana added.
