Tools worth around £700 have been allegedly stolen from a van parked in Welwyn Garden City.

The incident took place at around 3pm on Tuesday (June 6), when the white Ford Transit was parked in the car park of Gosling Sports Park.

During the incident, a hole was drilled into the door of the vehicle, and tools were reportedly taken.

The vehicle's owner later told The Welwyn Hatfield Times that two staff members managed to scare the suspects away, but £700 worth of power tools were taken.

According to Hertfordshire police, two males left the scene in a vehicle.

A spokesperson for Hertfordshire Constabulary said: "Police were contacted after an attempt was made to break into a white Ford Transit van parked in the car park of Gosling Sports Park.

"The incident occurred at around 3pm on Tuesday 6 June.

"Two males subsequently made off in a vehicle.

"Damage was caused to the van by drilling a hole into the door, and some items were reportedly taken.
