Crime prevention advice was handed out by officers from the Welwyn Hatfield Safer Neighbourhood Team in Hatfield town centre.

The community event, which was organised by Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council, saw residents given the chance to learn more about the local services and help available to them.

The Safer Neighbourhood officers were invited along on Wednesday, April 26 to share crime prevention tips.

The Herts fire and rescue service also attended to promote fire safety.

Sergeant Robert Wilson said: “Firstly, I would like to thank the council for inviting us along.

“The event was a great opportunity to meet with local residents and provide them with some useful crime prevention advice. We also listened to residents about any issues they wanted to raise.

"It is always useful to hear the public’s views as it helps us to shape our policing activity such as patrols and operations.

“We know residents are always keen for bike-marking opportunities so we bought along our equipment to the event. A number of residents took up this free offer which was great to see.”
