A teenager has been arrested in Welwyn Garden City's John Lewis store after police recovered a stolen motorbike.

On Wednesday, April 12, a 15-year-old was caught by officers following a foot chase, and arrested on suspicion of stealing two motorbikes.

One of those vehicles was a distinctive orange Lambretta stolen from Watchmead on Tuesday, April 11, with police sharing a photo on Facebook in a bid to find it.

On Sunday, April 16, a vigilant member of the public spotted the motorbike in Thistle Grove. It had been spray painted black, displayed false number plates, and was subsequently seized by the Safer Neighbourhood Team.

"This is a great example of the police and the public working together to tackle crime," said Safer Neighbourhood Team Inspector Amy Sheldon.

"Attempts had been made to disguise the motorbike but due to its unique stickering, we were able to identify it as the outstanding stolen orange Lambretta."
