The countdown has begun to Welwyn Garden City's World Food Festival, with just one month to go until the much-anticipated event.

From 11am to 5pm on Saturday 13 and Sunday, May 14, the town centre will be taken over by more than 40 traders, serving up delicious cuisines from all across the globe.

From Indian curries to Mexican burritos, and Caribbean chicken to Greek souvlaki, visitors will be able to taste their way around the world.

There will be a World Music Stage, with performances from The Kopy Katz, a high-octane live rockabilly band, Britain’s Got Talent finalist and Welwyn Garden City's own Immi Davies, and the Sabbibah Stars belly dancers, while the acoustic stage will showcase local talents including Conor Walker and Amber Jo Lilly.

The Cooking Demonstration Stage will be hosted by Anne Harman on the Saturday, and Chilli Olly on the Sunday, with demonstrations by renowned chefs and tutors from Oaklands College, who are sponsoring the event.

The event is organised by the Wonderful Welwyn Garden City BID team, and funded by town centre businesses with Oaklands College and Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council sponsoring the event.

"We are so excited to be bringing back the World Food Festival to the town for its 13th year, it’s such a fantastic event that attracts visitors from all over the country." said Mariana Bitonte, manager of the Welwyn Garden City BID.

"After the success of last year’s two-day event, we are pleased to be hosting this event for two days again. We hope you can come down, join the fun, and support the local businesses.

"The World Food Festival is the perfect opportunity to experience the diverse culinary traditions of different cultures and to enjoy a fun-filled weekend with family and friends.

"With something for everyone, it's an event not to be missed. So come and join us for a culinary adventure that will tantalise your taste buds."
