The refurbishment of an abandoned railway station - now part of the Alban Way - has now begun.
Contractors working on behalf of St Albans City and District Council started work on the platform at Smallford Station today (Thursday, March 23).
The refurbishment is expected to take around three weeks and will see Victorian-style lampposts and benches installed.
Flower beds and railway posters will also be added thanks to the Smallford Station & Alban Way Heritage Society and Oaklands College.

The railway posters included in the redevelopment have been designed by two art and design students from Oaklands College, which has campuses in St Albans and Welwyn Garden City.
An exhibition will be present at the site, situated in a refurbished goods van, illustrating the history of the station and the Hatfield & St Albans Railway that it served.
A rewilding project is also under way, which will introduce hedgerows and a range of other plants.
Presentations from the Smallford Station & Alban Way Heritage Society will be made available to local groups.
