The 10th anniversary of Welwyn Hatfield's landlord accreditation scheme has been marked with a special event.

Partnership Accreditation for Landlords (PAL) scheme aims to improve the standard of privately rented accommodation in the borough, and was founded by Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council and the University of Hertfordshire to help find students good quality homes.

By January this year, PAL had 90 accredited landlords and 14 accredited agencies, with the successful scheme set to be rolled out across Hertfordshire in the future.

Landlords from across the borough attended the event to celebrate the scheme, alongside the likes of council leader Tony Kingsbury and councillor Fiona Thomson, executive member for housing.

"I am delighted that the PAL scheme has been such a success and is helping more students and tenants than ever before find quality homes in Welwyn Hatfield," said Cllr Thomson.

"It was also great to hear from officers about plans for the further expansion of the scheme, not just in our borough but across Hertfordshire.
