Isabel Hospice has wrapped up its annual Christmas tree recycling service - raising £17,235 in the process.

Twelve local businesses supported by an army of volunteers collected a total of 1,200 trees during the second week of January, offering householders the chance to dispose of their trees in an environmentally-friendly way while supporting a good cause in their community.

All the money generated through this year’s 'Tree-cycling' scheme will help ensure Isabel Hospice can continuing providing its expert, compassionate care free-of-charge to every person who needs it.

Head of fundraising, Katy O’Sullivan, said: “We’re so grateful that our Tree-cycling initiative has been so well supported again this year, helping to get our 2023 fundraising off to a fantastic start.

“By letting us collect your tree, you’ve not only helped to provide vital care to those in need of Isabel’s specialist support but, have done your part to protect the environment.

“We’d also like to say a huge thank you to our dedicated volunteers who distributed leaflets and posters to promote the scheme throughout our catchment area, and the local companies who offered their time and services to collect and chip the trees for us.

“This project would not have been possible without this huge joint effort, and we are incredibly thankful to you all.”
