A seven-year-old cuddly cat whose owner recently passed away in Welwyn Garden City is in need of a loving new home.

Zeus, a long-haired Maine Coon cross, is currently in foster care with Cats Protection Welwyn Hatfield District, and looking for a permanent home.

Cats Protection Welwyn Hatfield District said: “He lived with his elderly owner who sadly passed away. Zeus was her companion and slept on the bed with her. Once she passed away, he took to the great grandchild’s baby bassinet which must go with him.”

Zeus had found a home, but after a vet visit it was found that he had FIV positive (Feline immunodeficiency virus), the cat version of HIV.

Although it does not cause any major issues for Zeus, he can pass it on to unvaccinated cats so he must be kept indoors.

His foster owner's added: "He is super affectionate but due to being FIV and long haired, he needs an older person or couple who can indulge his affection and grooming."

Zeus uses a litter tray and enjoys strokes and having his long hair brushed. He is neutered, vaccinated, flea and worm treated and microchipped.
