Want to know more about diabetes, treatments and the impact it can have on your body?

Health Matters, a Hatfield-based initiative, is set to host an Understanding Diabetes event to help Welwyn Hatfield residents understand how you can help yourself and what support is available to you.

The event will be held at Hatfield Social club, on Tuesday, January 17 at 7.30pm.

Specialists from the local health services will give a lively and interactive session which dispels the common misconceptions and myths about diabetes.

A consultant in diabetes from the East & North Herts NHS trust, Sagen Zac-Varghese, will talk about, what diabetes means and what is happening in the body, what to expect out of a diabetes consultation and standards of care, and new treatments and technologies.

There will also be a talk on first-hand experience from those affected by diabetes.

This event is an opportunity to learn more about the condition, meet others with similar experiences and ask questions of the experts.

Volunteers from Patient Participation Group organised the event with four surgeries in Hatfield that make up the Hatfield Patient Care Network (PCN).

This is the second in a series of talks and meetings and Health Matters hopes to cover subjects such as Parkinsons Disease, cancer, arthritis and mental health in future events.
