Two men have been charged after more than 100 wraps of crack and heroin were found in a vehicle in Welwyn Garden City.

In the early hours of Wednesday morning, officers from the Welwyn Hatfield Intervention Team stopped a black BMW in Middlefield, with cannabis found and both the driver and passenger arrested.

A further search of the vehicle saw officers find 102 wraps of crack and heroin, with the two men now being charged.

Omar Chafiki, 42, of Catford, has been charged with being concerned in the supply of class A (cocaine and heroin) and possession of criminal property, namely money.

Mohammed Choudhury, 27, of Tottenham, has been charged with possession with intent to supply class A (heroin and cocaine), being concerned in the supply of class A (heroin and cocaine) and possession of class B (cannabis).

Choudhury has been remanded to prison awaiting trial, while Chafiki has been bailed to court with strict conditions.

“I am glad we’ve been able to take the drugs off the streets and I would encourage anyone with suspicions about local drug dealing to let us know so we can take action.”
