HOUSEHOLDERS in Potters Bar turned out in force to voice their anger over plans to widen the M25.

Officials from construction firm Skanska Balfour Beatty were met by angry residents at a Hertfordshire Highways meeting last night (Thursday).

A presentation was given by the company to a packed room at the Wyllyotts Centre as the contractors laid out their plans to widen the M25 motorway between junctions 23 to 25.

The stretch, which includes the Potters Bar turn off, won’t be physically widened but instead the hard shoulder will come in to use permanently as part of the new plans.

But despite the snazzy slide presentation and various display boards representatives from Skanska Balfour Beatty were bombarded with questions from residents angry at the noise levels that they believe will rise during construction, and concerns that constant use of the hard shoulder will have a detrimental effect on the emergency services.

It was confirmed that work will start next month and is planned to finish in Spring 2015.
