EARLIER this month I brought you news of Welwyn Garden City’s real-life superheroes on the roof of Campus West, now I can reveal they were costumed marvels Blue Steel and Red Berry.
Holy (or should that be “holey”) spandex, dear readers!
After seeing their antics I was fascinated to discover their true identities.
Then, last week a mysterious visitor arrived at Times Towers, or rather an un-mysterious visitor, since it was amateur film director Lawrence Essex, who has filmed the adventures of Blue Steel and his fearless sidekick Red Berry.
The heroes and their film crew were working on another feature , which is sure to be as exciting as Zack Snyder’s upcoming Man of Steel sequel, where Superman will battle Batman.
Judging by their earlier work, it seems Welwyn Hatfield is safe from trenchcoat-clad bad guys in John Lennon glasses thanks to the dynamic duo, as one is felled in Howardsgate, Welwyn Garden City and then ruthlessly hunted down in one movie uploaded to YouTube.
The craze of real life superheroes has come into sharp focus of late with masked vigilantes becoming ever more popular.
Well-known characters such as The Statesman, Vague, Black Arrow and Terrorvision have attracted national media coverage, as has the motorists’ friend; Angle Grinder Man, who comes to the aid of clamped drivers to saw them free.
Perhaps I’ll join them and we can do our own real-life Avengers Assemble.
Hennessy Man or Mr Moet both have authentic rings to them.
