More than £3.5million has been allocated to repair potholes across the county - but highways chiefs say it is not enough.
This week the Department for Transport announced it had awarded around £3.7million to fix flood-hit roads and bridges.
Herts County Council, which is responsible for highways, estimates that around £7million of damage has been done this winter.
Roads chief councillor Terry Douris said: “I’m pleased that the government has responded to our call for more money to repair these flood-hit roads, although it won’t on its own enable us to repair all the identified damage.
“Nevertheless, this funding is a welcome boost to our efforts to repair many miles of flood-damaged roads and bridges after another winter of extreme weather which has had a major impact on roads.”
Cllr Douris said the authority would also be bidding for a share of £200million announced in this week’s budget by Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne.
Contractor Ringway is identifying priority roads to repair first, the council has said.
