Dressed as Darth Vader and perched in an inflatable X-Wing – this was how the borough’s Labour leader took on the Ice Bucket Challenge.
Welwyn Hatfield Council opposition leader councillor Kieran Thorpe got drenched in ice cold water and donated money to the Motor Neurone Disease Association last week.
Before the soaking Mr Thorpe nominated Welwyn Hatfield MP and Tory Party Chairman Grant Shapps to take on the challenge.
Usually nominees have 24 hours to complete the challenge, and as Mr Thorpe threw down the gauntlet on Sunday, it seems the MP failed to get involved.
However it appears Mr Shapps was not properly tagged in the post, so he may have been unaware of the challenge.
The ice bucket campaign has swept across the internet in the last few weeks, with participants dared to pour a bucket of freezing water on their heads.
It was set up to raise cash and awareness for ALS, which is known as Motor Neurone Disease in the UK.
Scores of famous faces have done it including Benedict Cumberbatch, Kate Moss, Lady Gaga and George W. Bush.
